Is It Just an Old Wives' Tale?

I received an email a few months back claiming the wonders of Vicks VapoRub. It said to stop nighttime coughing, apply to the soles of your feet, then cover them with socks. Apparently the soles of your feet have larger pores, so it is absorbed better there. I swear by it now! It has been the only thing that's helped Courtney get a good night sleep over the past week.
I just looked it up on Snopes, and its legitimacy is "Unconfirmed." There is also a concern about an ingredient, camphor, being dangerous to children if swallowed or applied in excess amounts. And here I thought I was being a good Mom! I guess she doesn't nibble on her toes at night...

Last winter when Lance was sick someone told me to put it on the botton of his feet and it was the ONLY thing that helped him! i swear by it and always will. I also love the smell

My mom uses that trick and we've used it on Shaylin's feet before. It worked for part of the night, but she ended up still coughing a little bit. I still always use it.

I tried this with Hunter about a year ago, to no avail. I tried it again this year and was amazed when I didn't have him up all night coughing. I wonder if it's an age thing? :o)

Sounds good to me! I'll have to try it out - I usually slather it all over under my nose, and that never seems to help any. Thanks for the idea!!!

We have done this also. I think it works great on my kids. I like it too.
